Buttercup is a password manager that helps you store logins/passwords from websites and other services in a securely and well-organized database. For data protection, AES 256bit CBC mode is used in conjunction with SHA256 HMAC.
When you first start the program offers to create a database in which all your passwords will be stored. At the creation stage, you need to set a password, select a folder and name the database. You can create several databases at once, for example, for different users or to differentiate work and personal passwords. The database can be stored on a local disk, external drive or cloud storage.
Buttercup suggests using folders to organize records. The number of entries is not limited. Entries are easy to move between categories using the command in the context menu.
Additionally, the program has a password generator. It will help you create a password of the right length with the desired set of characters, and you can immediately assess the degree of its reliability.
